AVAX/USD price feed

AVAX is the native asset of Avalanche: the gas token plus the staking collateral of the whole network. Its on-chain market lives at home, with every pool in this feed's live composition sitting on Avalanche itself. The rate that comes out of them refreshes block by block, with depth standing behind every number.

AVAX trades at home

Most assets in this catalog trade scattered across half a dozen networks. AVAX is the counterexample: its active composition sits entirely on Avalanche's own C-Chain. The venues where AVAX changes hands on-chain are the venues of its home ecosystem, which makes this feed a direct read on the network's own economy rather than a patchwork of bridged markets.

That concentration is a feature for anyone consuming the number. One chain means one settlement environment, one latency profile, one set of venue mechanics behind every price. When the rate moves, the movement traces back to pools that share a block clock, which keeps the story behind each tick short.

AVAX is also working collateral across its own ecosystem: it backs loans on Avalanche money markets, margins perpetuals, sits as half of every major pair in the network's liquidity pools. Each of those uses needs a defensible dollar mark; each liquidation that follows executes against the same on-chain pools this feed reads. The rate on this page is not an abstraction of the AVAX market. It is the AVAX market, measured where it clears.

How AVAX resolves to dollars

AVAX's on-chain venues have historically quoted it straight in stablecoins as well as against Ether. A dollar-quoted pool needs no cross-rate; the price in the pool is already the price in dollars. That distinguishes AVAX from assets such as stETH or cbETH, whose dollar rates are computed through another market in a second step.

Coin-quoted legs tie the number to the broadest reference markets in DeFi whenever they hold enough depth to count. The blend is useful on both sides: direct dollar observation next to legs anchored in outside liquidity. Each pool contributes by its liquidity, so the deep venues carry the weight while the small ones stay marginal.

Where a ticker ends and a feed begins

Search for the AVAX price and every result is a ticker: one number, aggregated from centralized exchange trades, built for a person glancing at a screen. Useful, but it answers a retail question. It does not say what AVAX trades for in the pools where on-chain positions actually settle, how much size that rate can absorb, or what stands behind the number when a risk engine needs to defend it.

This feed answers the second question with named pools rather than an exchange average. Each response pairs the rate with depth at one percent on both sides: not just what AVAX costs, but how much AVAX that price can absorb. Teams that already consume exchange data keep their ticker; this is the second opinion, drawn from the venue class the ticker cannot see. Nothing about that replaces exchange data. It completes the picture of a market that runs in two places at once.

The practical difference lives in the details a ticker never carries: which venues the number rests on, how much of the weight is direct dollar liquidity, how much size the rate can absorb before it moves. On this page those questions have answers; in the API response they come with pool addresses attached. A headline number does not take questions.

Native venue next to global venue

The composition pairs Avalanche's own exchange culture with the global one. Trader Joe, the DEX that grew up on Avalanche, trades AVAX alongside Uniswap v3, the global standard deployed to the C-Chain. Two venue families with different fee mechanics plus different liquidity styles feed one number, which keeps the rate from depending on any single venue's design. How the weight splits between them at any moment is the market's business; the composition reports it as observed.

Who runs on this rate

Credit markets

A liquidation on an Avalanche lending market settles against on-chain liquidity, not against a centralized exchange ticker.

Derivatives desks

Perpetuals plus structured products referencing AVAX need a mark with visible depth behind it, not a headline number alone.

Data teams

One API call returns the rate plus the pool-level composition behind it, computed from the same block.
